Abstract
Have you ever wondered what life would be like if you called the shots? No more bosses, it’s just you and your team doing great work, making piles of money and serving awesome customers… and invoicing, collections, finding new clients, running payroll, writing proposals, revising contracts, handling employee issues, insurance and about a thousand other things that aren’t necessarily what excite you about the idea of running your own dev shop.
I ran a small agency for the first 5 years of my career, worked as CTO of a funded startup, worked for The Man, and now I’m back to consulting through my 9-month-old software development company, Headway.
I have an entrepreneurial itch that just won’t go away, and I know I’m not the only one. If you have considered going out on your own, this talk is for you. I’ll cover the good, bad and ugly of what has gone in to building Headway. We certainly can’t say we’re doing everything right, but we’ve learned a lot I’m looking forward to sharing what I know and hopefully saving you from making some of the same mistakes when you start your company.
